New Delhi: US President Donald Trump has been nominated for the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize. He has been nominated for the award a few weeks after helping peace between Israel and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). He is nominated by Christian Tybring-Gageed, a member of the Norwegian Parliament, who praised Trump for his efforts to resolve conflicts around the world.
Tybring-Gauged said, ‘I think he has tried more for peace among nations than most other named people.’ Tybring serves as the chairman of the Norwegian delegation to the NATO parliamentary assembly.
He says the Trump administration played a key role in establishing relations between the United Arab Emirates and Israel. As it is expected that other Middle Eastern countries will follow in the footsteps of the UAE, the deal could be a game changer that will transform the Middle East into a field of cooperation and prosperity.
The letter also mentioned that it was instrumental in facilitating contacts between the conflicting parties and to deal with the Indo-Pakistan Kashmir border dispute, the conflict between North and South Korea as well as North Korea’s nuclear capabilities. As other prevalent conflicts created new dynamics. Tybring further praised Trump for withdrawing large numbers of troops from the Middle East.
The Norway MP said that the President had fulfilled the three conditions necessary to win the Peace Prize. Four US Presidents have won the Nobel Peace Prize. Barack Obama won in 2009, Theodore Roosevelt in 1906, President Woodrow Wilson in 1920 and President Jimmy Carter in 2002 won the Nobel Prize. The 2021 winner will not be announced until October next year.
