Tokyo Olympic Games: The gold medal in the weightlifting 49 kg category will remain with Zhihui Hou of China and Mirabai Chanu will remain the winner of the silver medal. 

Earlier, ANI had reported that Zhihui Hou will be tested by the anti-doping authorities and if she fails the test, Chanu will get a chance to be awarded a gold, but no doping test. Has been done.

Not only this, the news agency ANI also accepted its mistake on this report. 

“It was an unintentional mistake while reporting the news,” ANI said. 

It is clarified that Hou did not undergo a repeat doping test.

Zhihui Hou of China won the gold medal with a total of 210 kg and set a new Olympic record. 

Mirabai Chanu gave India its first medal at the Tokyo Olympics by winning a silver medal at the Tokyo International Forum.

During her four successful attempts at the competition, Chanu lifted a total of 202 kg (87 kg in snatch and 115 kg in clean and jerk). 

China’s Zhihui Hou set a new Olympic record, while Indonesia’s Windi Kentika Aisha won the bronze medal with a total of 194 kg.

With this historic silver medal, Chanu became the second Indian weightlifter to win an Olympic medal.

Earlier, Karnam Malleswari had won a bronze medal for India in the 69 kg category at the 2000 Sydney Games, when women’s weightlifting was first introduced.
