New Delhi: August 15, 2020 was a very emotional day for Indian cricket fans. Two bigwigs of Indian cricket retired from international cricket on this day. A few minutes after MS Dhoni’s retirement from international cricket, Suresh Raina announced to say goodbye to cricket through his social media account. MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina will both be seen representing the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2020.

Raina and Dhoni are very good friends inside and outside the field. Both served the Indian cricket team and Chennai Super Kings for a long time. While Dhoni’s career was not surprising to most people, Raina’s decision to hang shoes at the age of 33 was surprising to the cricket world.

Suresh Raina, the first Indian to score a century in all three formats of cricket – T20I, ODI and Test played his last ODI for India in July 2018. He was then dropped from the Indian team due to poor form and fitness problems. Born on 27 November 1986, after the announcement of Suresh Raina’s retirement, the cricket world bid him farewell.

Suresh Raina’s Career

Suresh Raina is a member of the 2011 World Cup winners and the 2013 Champions Trophy winners. Raina played a number of match-winning innings for India and achieved tremendous success under Dhoni. The left-handed batsman played 18 Tests, 226 ODIs and 78 T20 Internationals, scoring 768, 5615 and 1605 runs. Apart from great batting, Raina is also known for his excellent fielding.
