The election of the new President of the country is to be held on July 18 and before that the churning has started on the name of the candidate. Both the ruling party and the opposition have been holding back-to-back meetings for the presidency. Meanwhile, there is news that Yashwant Sinha can be the Presidential candidate from the opposition side. Yashwant Sinha is scheduled to attend the opposition meeting for the election of the Presidential candidate in Delhi today.
It is being told that TMC has proposed the name of Yashwant Sinha, on which many opposition parties have given their approval. According to the information, Sinha has agreed to the proposal after top Trinamool Congress leaders discussed the matter.
Earlier, Sharad Pawar, Farooq Abdullah and Gopal Krishna Gandhi had turned down the opposition’s offer. Mahatma Gandhi’s grandson Gopal Krishna Gandhi on Monday thanked the opposition leaders for suggesting his name for the post of President and expressed his desire not to contest the elections.
