After a setback to the ruling Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) in the Maharashtra Legislative Council elections, Maharashtra minister Eknath Shinde and some other Shiv Sena MLAs are camping in a hotel in Gujarat’s Surat city.
According to sources, some MLAs, angry with the party’s leadership, reached Surat on Monday night and are staying at Le Meridien Hotel here.
A source said, “Some Shiv Sena MLAs, including Maharashtra minister Eknath Shinde, are present in Surat.” Heavy security has been deployed outside the hotel.
Raut said – no earthquake will come
meanwhile Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut’s statement has come on this whole incident. Raut said that some Shiv Sena MLAs and Eknath Shinde could not be contacted at the moment.
Efforts are being made to topple the Mahavikas Aghadi government but the BJP has to remember that Maharashtra is very different from Rajasthan or Madhya Pradesh.
Raut said that we do not think that any political earthquake is going to happen in Maharashtra.
Uddhav may get a setback
In the elections held on Monday for the 10 seats of the Maharashtra Legislative Council, the BJP had won all the five seats on which it had fielded candidates.
Shiv Sena and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) got two seats each while Congress had to be content with one seat.
After the Rajya Sabha elections, the ruling coalition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) in Maharashtra got the second major setback from the BJP in Maharashtra.
The MVA comprises the Shiv Sena, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and the Congress.
