In a message to the youth of the Kashmir Valley, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday enumerated the initiatives taken by his government for peace and development and assured them that their parents, grandparents and maternal grandparents had taken care of them. Those who have faced difficulties will not have to bear it. During his first visit to Jammu and Kashmir after the abrogation of Article 370 of the Constitution in 2019, Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for several projects worth about Rs 20,000 crore for the Union Territory.
These include the inauguration of the Banihal-Qazigund tunnel route providing all-weather connectivity between Jammu and Kashmir. Addressing the youth of Kashmir, Modi said that the youth of the valley, your parents, your grandparents, your maternal grandparents have led a troubled life. My youth, you will not lead such a troubled life. I assure this.” In his address here on the occasion of Panchayat Diwas, the Prime Minister said that the youth of Jammu and Kashmir should have faith in his words. He also outlined the steps taken by the government in the last few years for peace and development in the Union Territory.
Modi said that projects worth Rs 20,000 crore related to connectivity and electricity were inaugurated here today. Several development initiatives are being taken in the Union Territory to accelerate the development of Jammu and Kashmir. “With the inauguration of a 500 kW solar power plant at Palli in Samba district, it is going to become the country’s first zero carbon dioxide (carbon neutral) panchayat. The people of the parish have shown what can be done with ‘Sabka Prayas’.
Modi said that be it democracy or development, Jammu and Kashmir is setting a new example for the entire country. PM Modi said that Jammu and Kashmir will write a new chapter of development.” He said that in the last two years, an investment of Rs 38,000 crore has come in the Union Territory, whereas in the last seven decades only Rs 17,000 crore has been invested. The Prime Minister said that in Jammu and Kashmir, central laws empowering the people were not implemented, but now this government has implemented them for the empowerment of the people.
