At least 27 people have died in a massive fire on Friday in a building located near pillar number 545 of Mundka Metro in west Delhi. However, the fear of increasing the death toll is still being expressed. Fire department officials said they have recovered 27 bodies. At the same time, the police has released a list of 12 injured in the accident. Apart from this, the DM office has issued helpline numbers 011-25195529, 011-25100093.
According to the information received, more than 12 people have been scorched in the fire and they are being treated at Sanjay Gandhi Hospital. According to the Delhi Fire Department, they received information about the fire incident at around 4:40 pm.
30 fire tenders reached the spot to douse the fire along with ambulance facility was also made available on the spot to provide immediate medical aid to the victims. A team of NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) was also deployed on the spot to assist the fire brigade.
A senior police officer said that it is a four-storey building. The fire broke out on the first floor of the building, which houses a CCTV camera and router manufacturing company’s office.
Due to the presence of perfume and desi ghee in a warehouse located in the building, the fire quickly engulfed the entire warehouse.
He said, at the time of the accident, there were about 200 people in the building in which 50-60 people were also meeting in a room when the fire engulfed them. The work of evacuating people was done by breaking the glass panes of the windows.
