The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a senior intelligence officer working in the Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI) for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 60 lakh.
Officials gave this information on Sunday. He said that a businessman had complained to the CBI that the said officer had allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs one crore to help him in an ongoing case against his father.
He said that on this complaint, the CBI registered a case against the concerned officer Mohit Dhankhar.
CBI spokesperson RC Joshi said, “It was alleged that the accused sought a bribe of Rs one crore through private persons/brokers to help the father of the complainant in a case at DGGI, Ghaziabad.”
A trap was laid and on behalf of that officer, a private person named Rakesh Sharma was caught taking a bribe of 60 lakh rupees.
Later, Dhankhar was also arrested, according to officials. “The premises of the accused are being searched today,” Joshi said.
