BSF catches young man crossing the border to meet Pakistani girlfriends

BSF caught a young man in Kutch, Gujarat who wanted to cross the border to meet his girlfriend living in Pakistan. This young man had reached Gujarat from Maharashtra.

New Delhi: A 20-year-old boy was caught by the Border Security Force (BSF) on Thursday in the Rann of Gujarat Kutch region. In fact, he was allegedly trying to cross the border to meet his girlfriend in Pakistan. A young man from Osmanabad in Maharashtra said that he had traveled about 1200 km to meet the girl from Shah Faisal town in Karachi city of Pakistan.

The youth had befriended the girl on Facebook and the two were constantly in touch on social media through Facebook and WhatsApp. He wanted to go to Pakistan and tried to use Google Map for navigation.

Reached Kutch by bike

He got BSF personnel in a sick state. He said that he fainted while trying to cross the Rann of Kutch. Security personnel identified him with other documents like ATM card, Aadhaar and PAN card. During the search operation BSF found a bike, which was abandoned by the young man when he got close to the border. The youth was apprehended about 1.5 km from the India-Pakistan international border, based on information shared by the Crime Branch of the Maharashtra Police.

BSF entrusted youth to police

The Maharashtra Police had informed the Gujarat Police about a missing complaint, lodged by the young man’s parents. Gujarat Police sought help from Border Security Force personnel in this case. After tracking the mobile phone, the youth was discovered in an area near Dholavira. BSF personnel have handed over the youth to the police for further investigation, so that his story can be verified.

This is not the first case

This is not the first time someone has tried to cross the border for love’s sake. In 2012, Hamid Ansari from Mumbai reached Pakistan via the Afghanistan border to meet a girl. Ansari was arrested in Pakistan and was able to return to India after completing his prison sentence in 2018.
