Raigad (Maharashtra): Two people have died in a five-storey building collapse in Raigad, Maharashtra, while 25 to 30 people are still believed to be buried under the rubble. This accident happened on Monday evening. On the spot, NDRF teams are conducting relief and rescue operations. Raigad District Magistrate Nidhi Chaudhary has said that two people have lost their lives in this accident. Earlier on Tuesday, Maharashtra government minister Aditi Tatkare visited the accident site.

The minister informed that three NDRF teams are conducting relief and rescue operations on the spot. He said that some of the injured are undergoing treatment while some have been discharged. The minister said that the seriously injured people have been taken to Mumbai for treatment. Aditi said, “The investigation into the accident has started, we want the SIT to investigate it.” Aditi said that around 60 people have been rescued safely, while 25 to 30 people are feared trapped under the debris. Maharashtra minister Eknath Shinde also visited the spot.

The accident occurred in the Kajalpura area of Raigad district. The building is known as ‘Tariq Gordon’. This place is about 170 km from Mumbai. Local people say that the accident happened around six o’clock on Monday evening. It was told that this building was 10 years old and it had 40 apartments. On receiving information about the building collapse, Home Minister Amit Shah expressed grief and assured to give all possible help in relief and rescue work.
