On Tuesday, the second day of the week, both the indices of the stock market opened on the green mark, recovering from the sluggishness of the previous day.
The 30-share Bombay Stock Exchange opened at 54,579 with a rise of 108 points or 0.20 per cent, while the Nifty of the National Stock Exchange opened 29 points or 0.18 per cent higher at 16,331 level.
As the market opened, about 1304 shares rose, 659 shares declined and 77 shares remained unchanged.
Earlier, the Sensex and Nifty closed on the red mark after opening with a strong fall on the previous trading day on Monday.
At the end of trading, the Sensex slipped 364 points or 0.67 per cent to 54,471, while the Nifty index lost 109 points or 0.67 per cent to end at 16,302.
Let us inform here that the Indian currency rupee, which reached its all-time low against the dollar on Monday, has seen a rise today and it opened with a gain of 18 paise at 77.28 per dollar on Tuesday against the closing price of 77.46.
