Due to the softening of the prices of food items in the global markets and the efforts of the Government of India, the prices of edible oil have come down by Rs 10-15 per liter.
Food department secretary Sudhanshu Pandey told the media that except the price of groundnut oil, all the oils used in the kitchen have fallen in the last few days.
In the last week, major oil makers including Adani Wilmar, Mother Dairy and other oil makers had announced reduction in oil prices per litre.
However, common citizens will be able to get the benefit of the reduced price only after a few days as only old stock is being sold in the market.

Sunflower oil has become cheaper by Rs 3, earlier the price of sunflower oil was Rs 193 which has come down to Rs 190. The price of palm oil has decreased by Rs. The price of palm oil has come down from Rs 156 to Rs 152.
Mustard and soybean oil prices have also come down. The Ministry of Food and Consumers monitors the prices of a total of 22 everyday items. Their data is collected from 167 markets around the world.
Prices of essential goods also reduced
Due to the fall in the prices of essential commodities in the international markets, pulses, rice, wheat, flour, sugar, milk, and tea leaves, onions, tomatoes and other things have also become cheaper in the country.
Food Secretary Sudhanshu Pandey informed that not only the prices of edible oil, but also the prices of wheat and flour, rice and other things are stable in the Indian retail market.
Prices of groundnut oil did not fall
According to consumer ministry data, the price of groundnut oil has increased. Earlier the price of groundnut oil was Rs 186 per liter which has increased to Rs 188 per litre.
Mustard and soya oil also reduced prices
At present, the price of mustard oil has come down from Rs 183 per liter to Rs 180 per liter, while the price of vegetable oil is Rs 165 per liter. The price of soybean oil has also fallen.
It has come down from Rs 169.65 per liter to Rs 167.67 per litre. The prices of edible oil and other essential commodities may fall further in the coming days.
