From Congress to most of the opposition parties are strongly attacking the BJP government at the Center regarding the rate of petrol and diesel. This is also the reason that for the first time in the country, the rate of petrol has crossed Rs 100 per liter in most cities.
At the same time, diesel is also being sold at the highest level in the country. The Congress alleges that in the last 7 years, the BJP government at the Center has increased the rates of petrol and diesel as much as no one in the country has done till date.
In such a situation, let us see which party has been the champion in increasing the rates of petrol and diesel.
First know how expensive the BJP government of the Center made petrol
According to an analysis published in ‘The Print’, it has been 7 years since the Modi government came to power. During this time, the rate of petrol has increased from Rs 71.41 per liter in Delhi to Rs 100.21 per liter.
At the same time, the rate of diesel has increased from Rs 57.28 per liter to Rs 89.53 per liter. Thus, in 7 years, the BJP government at the Center has increased the rate of petrol by 40 percent, while the rate of diesel has increased by about 56 percent.
Let us now know what happened during the time of Congress’s policy coalition government.
Know how much the rate was increased during the time of UPA government
The Congress policy alliance UPA was in power in the country for 10 years. This government had made the rate of petrol and diesel more expensive in the first 7 years of its cheap. The UPA government had increased the rate of petrol from Rs 36 per liter to Rs 63 per liter in its initial 7 years.
At the same time, the rate of diesel was increased from Rs 23 per liter to Rs 38 per liter in these seven years. Thus, in the first 7 years of the UPA government, while the rate of petrol was increased by 77 percent, the rate of diesel was increased by 66 percent.
Know what was the rate of crude at the time of both the governments
The UPA government was in power from 2004 to 2014. During this time, the rate of crude was in the range of $ 34.16 per barrel to $ 110 per barrel.
At the same time, during the BJP’s central government in June 2021, the average crude rate has been $ 78.85 per barrel.
Know the truth of Congress government’s oil bond
Even after increasing the rates of petrol and diesel more than the present BJP government, when the losses of the petroleum companies did not reduce, the Congress government issued oil bonds to the petroleum companies.
It is estimated that these oil bonds were worth Rs 1.3 lakh crore. That is, the Congress government took a loan and left this money to the next governments. Now the BJP says that it is also paying these oil bonds with interest. That is, selling cheap petrol and diesel has been like making the coming generations indebted.
